Seen It privacy policy

Last updated 5 October 2026

Seen It is made in Australia by Gustavo Specht (“we”). This policy explains what the Seen It browser extension and this website, guspecht.com.au/seen-it, do with your information.

The short version

Your marks stay in your browser. No account needed, no ads, no tracking, and we never sell or share your data.

What Seen It stores

Seen It saves the titles you mark (each title’s name, its status, the streaming site’s id for it and the date), the viewing dates from any history you import, any notes you add, your lists and your settings. If you link a list to a Netflix profile, it also saves that profile’s name. If you use new season alerts, it keeps the episode details it gets from TVmaze. All of this is stored only in your browser, in its extension storage. It isn’t sent to us or to anyone else. The one exception is the show lookups for new season alerts, described below.

Where Seen It works

Seen It only runs on the streaming sites it supports: Netflix, plus Prime Video, Disney+, Stan and Binge, which are in beta and stay off until you turn them on. On those sites it reads the page to find titles and adds its own buttons. It can’t see any other website.

Importing your history

When you import your Netflix viewing history, Seen It reads the titles and dates on your Netflix viewing activity page and saves them in your browser. Importing a file, such as Netflix’s “Download all” file or an export from TV Time, Trakt, Letterboxd or IMDb, works the same way: the file is read in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.

Backups and Year in Review

Backups are files saved to your own computer, and your Year in Review image is made in your browser. Neither leaves your computer unless you choose to share it.

Layout updates

So that it keeps working when Netflix changes its layout, Seen It downloads a small settings file from GitHub Pages (guspecht.github.io) about every six hours, and sooner if part of a page stops working. The request doesn’t include your marks or anything about you. Like any web request, it shows your IP address to GitHub, which handles it under its own privacy policy.

Optional health checks

Health checks are off unless you turn them on in Seen It’s options. When they’re on, Seen It sends a short, anonymous report about which parts of a streaming page it could or couldn’t find, so layout problems can be fixed quickly. A report goes out when a part stops working or changes, plus one summary a day.

Each report contains only the Seen It version, the layout settings version, your browser’s language, the streaming site, which part of the page was checked, whether it worked, which layout version matched, and the time. Reports never include titles, your marks or anything that identifies you. They’re received through Google Apps Script, so Google can see your IP address and handles the request under its own privacy policy. You can turn health checks off at any time.

New season and episode alerts

New season alerts are part of Seen It Pro. To check for new seasons and episodes, Seen It looks up the shows you follow on TVmaze (tvmaze.com): series from your imported history, anything you’ve marked Watching, and any show you choose to follow. The first lookup for a show sends its name. After that, Seen It checks about once a day using TVmaze’s own number for the show. Like any web request, these show your IP address to TVmaze, but nothing else about you. TVmaze handles them under its own privacy policy. You can stop following any show in Seen It’s options.

The Pro waitlist

If you join the Seen It Pro waitlist, your email address (and your answer about which streaming services you use, if you give one) is collected through Tally (tally.so). We use it only to tell you when Seen It Pro launches and about any early-bird offer. We never sell or share it, and you can ask to be removed at any time by emailing seenit@guspecht.com.au.

Feedback when you remove Seen It

When you remove Seen It, your browser opens a short feedback form hosted by Tally (tally.so). Answering is optional. The form receives only the version of Seen It you had, nothing about you or what you watched. If you choose to leave your email for a free month of Seen It Pro, we use it only for that offer and to tell you when Pro launches. We never sell or share it, and you can ask to be removed at any time by emailing seenit@guspecht.com.au.

Payments

When Seen It Pro launches, payments will be handled by ExtensionPay and Stripe. They’ll receive your email address and payment details under their own privacy policies. We’ll receive your email address and whether you’ve paid, so we can unlock Pro. We never see your card details.

This website

This website doesn’t use cookies, analytics, ads or trackers, and it doesn’t load fonts or scripts from other services. Like most websites, its host may keep short-term technical logs, such as IP addresses, to keep it secure and running. Links to the Chrome Web Store, the waitlist form and other sites take you to services with their own privacy policies.

What we don’t do

We don’t collect your browsing history, sell or share your data, show ads, or use analytics or tracking.

Deleting your data

To delete your marks, notes, lists and settings, use “Delete all marks and settings” in Seen It’s options. To delete everything Seen It has stored, including saved episode details and layout settings, uninstall the extension. To leave the waitlist, remove an email you left in the feedback form, or ask about anything we hold, email seenit@guspecht.com.au.

Changes and questions

If this policy changes, we’ll update this page and the date at the top. Questions about your privacy? Email seenit@guspecht.com.au.
